The wonderful adaptability of the Australian Water Rat another of the fauna emulated by politicians.
When I was younger and tried to move to Australia, I read about these toads. To me it indicates that rats may have been around as long as cockroaches who also have learned to eat what is available. I say hooray for the rats!
Were you prevented from migrating by toads of the human variety?
@FrayedBear No, your immigration policies. I was one a minority of female computer programmers so there were jobs available, but I was under 40 (age) and your government did not want females of child-bearing age coming in and tempting Aussie men. So I went to Alaska instead.
@SiouxcitySue lucky Alaska & probably lucky you. At the time you mention this had ceased to be the "lucky country" if it ever was!
I have sadly noticed over the last 40+ years the destruction of much of what made Australia worthwhile.
@FrayedBear Thanx, I love Alaska, but nothing is the same when we try to "go back" so on to new horizons.
Reminds me of the old joke, that vivisectionists had started to use politicians instead of rats in their experiments.
When asked why the scientists replied that "there are somethings even a rat will not do for a bribe."
Good one Len!
