I heard over the summer that my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a great aunt who also had breast cancer and had a double mastectomy. I asked my gynecologist today about getting tested for the BRCA mutation. He said I needed to be referred for genetic counseling to an oncologist for the gene testing. Although, most insurance companies don't cover it and it could cost $2000! YET ANOTHER THING WRONG WITH OUR HEALTH CARE "SYSTEM"!
