Question. Do political parties need fund raising from individuals or would that money raised be better spent on local issues?
If a major party needs a couple hundred dollars from citizens to me there is something wrong in their funding model.
This is not a criticism just curious.
I am referring to all Western countries, not just USA.

If you want to win by your rules, change the law, change the rules, make a leveled playing field and you will win.

An organized group can do all sorts of things that isolated individuals can not. If individuals come together and pool their resources in order to influence public opinion, isn’t that their right whether needed or not?

Certainly can. It just seems more sense to give $500 to a women’s refuge than the Democratic Party where the value is tangible for the community in question and not squandered on some backslapping jolly for those who probably don’t need it!
@Geoffrey51 I agree that the money would be better spent on directly helping people in most cases. Politicians generally are just seeking ego gratification and to give them money helps no one. Sometimes though there is some cause for which people feel deeply and they want to get their story out there.
