“Look at my record, child” to a young woman asking him about trust now that he accepts PAC money. Is this arrogant and dismissive? [commondreams.org]
Just shows that statesmanship is dying, or apart from some of the other older school, dead in politics. There is no justification for condescending language to anyone.
It sure looks and sounds so. Then again, it also reminds me of a deer-caught-in-headlights reaction and scrambling to say something defensive. I really question not only his motives but also his memory, and his seeming inability to admit ignorance or admit forgetfulness. In a way, he sometimes comes across like Trump, just making stuff up.
I would say "child" is dismissive. IMO "Look at my record" isn't arrogant (lengthy record).
ESPECIALLY saying child to an 18 yr. old voter.
