Conservative equals scandal whether in politics or the church. Conservatives are deathly afraid of change and they can't seem to figure out change is inevitable. They never stop change. They slow it down sometimes, but it happens anyway. This fear and also greed makes them do unethical and often illegal acts. From the middle of the 20th Century to the present and into the future, these changes happen faster and faster, and they can't deal with this reality. This is why they always refer to the past and not the future. This and their fear of women, people of color, and the LGBT community is why they are no longer fit to govern on the national level. They simply can't keep up. IMO
