Most people on here are atheists and that's cool and all but who on here is truly agnostic. For example i consider myself an agnostic deist. My theory is that if there is a god he set things up to work by natural scientific laws and stepped back. He has no involvement in our day to day lives. Alsi religion is fake. Again its just my theory not a fact and i am not trying to convince anyone to think like me.
Seems a strange question. My uncle George and his family are all agnostic because they don’t know, don’t care about god, philosophy religion.
Are you asking from a standpoint of atheist/agnostic and the viability of one in counterpoint to the other?
hypothesis: noun: a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.
"A hypothesis is a proposed explanation for a phenomenon. For a hypothesis to be a scientific hypothesis, the scientific method requires that one can test it. Scientists generally base scientific hypotheses on previous observations that cannot satisfactorily be explained with the available scientific theories."
You've presented an hypothesis, not a theory. It becomes a theory if we can test it and those tests provide supporting evidence. It becomes a good theory if we can keep doing that getting the same results.
I'm not having a go at you here. It's important to know these distinctions when we engage in critical thinking; a pursuit that organised religion actively discourages.
theorem: noun: a general proposition not self-evident but proved by a chain of reasoning; a truth established by means of accepted truths.
Pythagoras's theorem is the most famous example. It's essentially unassailable; something that always comes out with the same result, no matter how many times you do it.
Like others here, I've been given no concrete evidence that deities exist. "Because what's the one thing the gods never do? Gods never actually show up." - The Doctor, The Girl Who Died.
Curiously (for me), your description of such a deity fits the Creator in the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.
I watched an interesting philosophical debate about-excepted vs non excepted truths. And alot of truths begin
by being NOT EXCEPTED.
Thanks
