So, I'm pretty sure that I have a mental depth charge (repressed memory) waiting to go off. How do I discovery it, deal with it and move on? Thoughts, comments, snide remarks?

So then your inclination that this memory is going "to go off", how does it present itself? Is it like a bubbling up of fragments, or a profound sense of unease. People repress things that they can't handle at the conscious level. The regurgatation of whatever was experienced may be unlike what was experienced. Unless you have access to an experienced analysist it may be very hard for you to interpert what emerges because it may resemble a metaphorical rebus and not a logical recollection.

"A profound sense of unease" sounds close.

@Vanceonfire Think about when and under what circumstances your unease is the greatest, try to find a 'location' what affects you the most. I don't believe that understanding your feeling of unease will change it, you may have to relive it in some sense to give it different values in order to change its effect. Of course such advice given on an internet forum is not worth much. Here is an interesting article about a university study, decide for your self [news.ubc.ca]

It has been proven, that while repressed memories can occur, the odds that you have some life altering ones, is minimal.

Interesting thought. What makes you think you have a repressed memory?
