I am about as progressive as one can get, but I am not naive enough to think a self admitted "socialist" is going to win the Presidency. If you can't win a big chunk of the middle, you can't win a Presidential election. Only a little under 50% of Democrats identify as progressive. Morning Joe is a conservative. What do you expect him to do. Maddow is the most progressive on TV. What do you consider an independent news outlet? You folks blew it in 2016 and you will blow it again. Sometimes I think some of you over the top Sanders people are really Republican trolls, as you helped trump get elected the first time and seem intent on getting him elected a second time. Conspiracy theorists whether on the left or the right are incredibly predictably boring, and never have proof of anything. This is why they are called "theories". My only intent is to get rid of trump. If you were the Dems nominee, I would vote for you.

I may not like it and you may not like it, but the reality is the center controls Presidential elections. That is a fact. So-called independents out number either party in voter registration. That is a fact. Wake up and smell the voter registration. You can't be a self proclaimed socialist and win a national election as long as the Boomers are still the huge voting block they are. Maybe after we Boomers are gone the country will shift more to the left, but I thought the same thing in the sixties and seventies and it did not happen.

@MichaelSpinler The center represent about 45% of the electorate. So you are way off the mark on that one. A whole lot have left the parties because of what they perceive as the extreme wings of each party. I don't know how old you are, but I can tell you this, for most Baby Boomers Socialism equals Communism and that scares the shit out of them. Boomers and Millennials make up the two largest voting blocks, so the Boomers carry a lot of weight and will vote in large numbers. Because of the electoral college it doesn't matter what most Americans want. If it worked that way Clinton would be the President and we would not be in all of the messes we are in.

@MichaelSpinler Only about 25% of eligible voters vote. They really can't bitch. Voting the bastards out of office is the only way to get their attention. That is the real power. Don't use it don't whine. Everyone is always saying Clinton is corrupt. Yet there is never any proof or foundation to base it on. The two most vetted, scrutinized, and investigated by the Republicans were Hillary and Obama. If there was something there they would have exploited it. If she were the President would would not be being played by the Russians, N Koreans, and the Turks. We would still be in the Paris Accords. We would not have had those ridiculous tax cuts. We wouldn't have taken thousands of children from their parents. If you do not think that would not be better, there may be something seriously wrong with you. Sometimes in politics your choice is the lesser of two evils. If you don't choose the lesser, well that doesn't make much sense. I you abstain from voting in protest you generally help deliver the worse od two evils. It ain't that complicated.
