"All war is a symptom of man's failure as a thinking animal."
~ John Steinbeck
We must consider here that animals don’t wage war. They have territorial disputes but not conscious incursions. There are no grand animal War Offices.
As a ‘thinking animal’ war is not a failure in itself, the failure is not to be able to find peaceful and concordant solutions which animals do not have the capacity for.
It is the ability to discuss and treaty that sets us apart as a thinking animal.
Humans are members of the animal kingdom. We are mammals.
@WilliamCharles That is true. Animals that have got destruction down to a fine art.
"During the Vietnam War, which lasted longer than any war we've ever been in - and which we lost - every respectable artist in this country was against the war. It was like a laser beam. We were all aimed in the same direction. The power of this weapon turns out to be that of a custard pie dropped from a stepladder six feet high."
~ Kurt Vonnegut
