Just over a century ago, when Californians were deciding whether to add the direct initiative, referendum and recall to their state Constitution, opponents called it socialism. The attempt failed and California voters don’t have to fear they will become the prey of elected predators in the legislature or other offices. California voters in 2018 took unreported nighttime lawmaking away from a legislature with large Democratic majorities.
Also just over a century ago, in the Arizona territory a statehood commission was drafting a constitution. They saw the corruption in Eastern states and to prevent it they wrote the direct initiative, referendum and recall into their draft. Arizona voters several years ago took redistricting away from a legislature that had a Republican majority.
With good reason, I distrust both parties.

Seeing as you don’t trust either party how come you don’t support Trump? He’s an outsider and a business man who understands how to do things unlike Obama who was a racist idiot who never held a job outside government and wanted to regulate everything.
Cultural lessons aren't taught in schools, for example the ones in Greek myths and other stories. Schools focus on reading and math in lower grades, which are important, but our culture is so diverse that cultural lessons are controversial. AFAIK ethics lessons are ignored.

Dear,when the school authorities tell you NO to use more than one week to teach the Roman Empire and only two to read / analyze the Quixote...you know what's behind the curtain.
@DUCHESSA You had average grade school students read Don Quixote? What did you teach to grade school students about the Roman Empire? Everyone gets a bit different education, and mine occurred many years ago, so I have forgotten some things. However, I'm sure I've never read Don Quixote, and knew nothing little about the Roman Empire until high school, except some passages in the Bible, such as the Romans crucified Jesus. My study of ethics occurred after graduating college, unless you consider Bible studies ethics, which I do not in general. Although, among the nonsense, bigotry and hypocrisy, there is a smattering of ethics, and a bit of history. I read Aesop's Fables when I young, but not for school.
@EdEarl I taught them what I learned at the same age...Are you aware there are children / HS versions of the Quixote? Two examples: The famous Windmills episode and the one from Grisóstomo y Marcela were my favorites. In HS I let them read several episodes and tell me -in their own words what Cervantes meant. About the R E we spoke about its location / extension, provinces, difference in words pronunciations, laws...As I said, all designed to their ages.

Newsguard also gave CNN a green rating. That’s in spite of the fact that CNN is very left bias as is MSNBC. On the positive side they also gave Fox News a green rating.
