I am listening to the impeachment hearings, not being surprised by, but just appreciating the deep moral depravity of the republican party. How many senators, if any, will break with their corrupt colleagues, and defend our constitution? Any predictions? I have had it with the lies.

I believe he will be defeated in the next election, the HR will remain Democratic and the Senate will flip. I know, in my dreams.

I really hope you're right! Well...not about Trump remaining president, though.
It dawned on me the conundrum is that many still think he will win a 2nd term (like many on this site - and people think I am negative). That makes the supporters hang on for fear of alienating him and losing their jobs. The more people hang on and defend the indefensible the more it seems he will win. A vicious cycle (ouroboros - the snake that eats it's own tail [tokenrock.com] )

I think the key to a win will hinge on 2 things: 1.) Voter turnout, & 2.) A fair election. I am pessimistic about both, but in the mean time, we can all encourage everyone we know to vote!
@Organist1 I think that there will be a huge voter turnout and the recent elections and shift in parties have shown that. Number 2 will be the issue but some states are trying to balance an unfair system. Even some rules have been made to remove gerrymandering that supports one group.
@JackPedigo I am cautiously optimistic...very cautiously. I think the fairness of the election will be the determining factor.
@Organist1 Absolutely and totally agree. Now the question is what will happen if the election is gamed like the last one? I don't think people fully understand the state of this country and democracy in particular will be determined by how this is handled.

@JackPedigo There is a group called Represent Us that is helping to change gerrymandering laws and others laws, starting in local elections across the country. They just helped pass Ranked Choice Voting in NYC.
@thislife I looked them up and it is about limiting money in the system. Are you a member? I would join such a group (and have) if I thought it would help.
@JackPedigo I have joined. I spent some time on the NYC Ranked Voting campaign, texting voters. I hope to do more as I am able. There is a fairly new chapter near me and I have started to attend that as well.
@thislife Okay, I joined. I get a lot of 'questionnaires' from the Democratic party but I know these are just pleas for money. Fill them out and return them sans a donation (I already have over 2 dozen groups I donate) but this one might be worth giving to and supporting. We are in a war and right now it is a cold war. If tRump and his ilk remain I fear it will escalate and we need to d our part to prevent that from happening. Thank you.
If they don't impeach trump, Our constitution no longer means a thing. The trump administration's obstruction of justice by ordering subpoenaed witnesses not to show up should alone be adequate for conviction. How can that be denied? Will the republicans be brazan enough to deny that obvious action? I agree they might but I hope they will pay at the polls.

You can be sure we have a boatload of compromised democrats too. I'm not claiming a false equivalence thing - - I'm just saying Putin has been working hard on infiltrating the whole government. If I were to guess, I'd say 45% of GOP are bought off and the rest have comprimat by the Enquirer or other GOP 'allies'. The percent of Dems could be 10%, but a lot on both sides are also paid by Saudi Arabia or other countries.
Our government has been corrupted because it's been corrupt for a long time and it's built up an assembly-line of corporate and international bribery and influence peddling. Those that would plug up the holes have to get their proposals past a corrupt majority, so nothing gets done.
I'm blown away by how the GOP can, after 70 years of anti-Communist rhetoric, do an about-face and embrace an obvious puppet from those very same Russians. At that level of hypocrisy, we are dead and just don't know it yet.
@racocn8 I would guess the percentages are much higher. The democrats appear to be on higher ground at the moment, but as soon as the power changes hands we will see how corrupt the democrats are.
They'll never impeach. Like the hearings on that "I LIKE BEER"guy (whom I have chistened Whiny McFuckFace) it's just a dog-and-pony show.

I watched Nixon crimes detailed in both Senate and House hearings.....BURGLARY BRIBERY slush funds by Attorney General John Mitchell his wife blowing the whistle OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE.... 1973 I WATCHED the removal of corrupt Vice President Agnew.....Gerald Rudolph Ford appointed to replace Agnew.....so called INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE Chair Schiff has zero crimes zero evidence to impeach TrumpOLINI over Ukraine....so the honeybees are dying endangered species disappearing like polar ice....wasting all this time protecting BILLARY and Biden crime families covering up their bribes taken by the mega millions....so the polluters and war crimes profiteering continues since ReaGUN 1982 onward 22 trillion dollars borrowed for it all

@Organist1 DNC offices were burglarized by White House employees. Convicted and jailed. Nixon covered up his ordering the burglary. Evidence proven and Barbara Jordon lawyer Congresswoman voted to impeach those crimes with real evidence.....asking Ukraine for evidence of Biden crimes is 100% legal but not moral according to cover up Democrats protecting Biden and BILLARY
