I'm in my flak shelter - but there's a lot here to think on whether it's your way or not! Interconnectedness and environmentalism. [noetic.org]

It is much easier in a small town or even in a small country. I am not sure about that happening in big cities, or a country as diverse as the US. While it may seem to make perfect sense, how often does that happen with humanity?

@Allamanda l have seen all of that stuff before. This has been going on in different places for a long time. Human beings react when in peril. They don't feel that at this point in time. Human beings are a selfish species most of the time, and until they are personally threatened they will not react. There is nothing in human history that hints of anything different. After the disaster they will pitch in, but they need that disaster, especially in the States.

@Allamanda It's American greed, stupidity, hypocrisy, and an over inflated sense of self. We are probably the most complex society on the planet, which creates its own strengths and weaknesses.

@Allamanda There is no country on this planet with as many really large factions by race or culture as this country. This is one of the reasons social change comes so slowly.

I am completely on board with the first five numbered assertions. Number six, not so much. Taking strong political stances on issues is not about unity but divisiveness. Declaring that your position on social and political questions is the only correct position—that is not spirituality but sheer ego. Fighting a battle for the advancement of women while ignoring the needs of men—that is partisanship.
