Hindus claim it is not an organized religion but they have religious heads called 'Shankaracharya'. There was one before, then another broke away, now they have four. Their platforms are called the "PEETH' meaning 'center' or core or a sitting dias (where a head sits, all others sit on the ground). Not all is true here - There are now four peethsa today - For spreading Vedanta, Adi Shankaracharya established four peethas (monasteries) in the four corners of the country, under the leadership of his four chief disciples. Their successors are heads of these peethas today. They stay there for life, are super well funded, all fight with one another and are of no use whatsoever to the religion itself or to the society. They learn Sanskrit, learn and memorize scriptures, preach, eat like pigs, fart and die. In short, it is a whole big mess.
