Spend so much time here that Ionly read links on posts lately.
"Reaper Man" by Terry Pratchett. Recommend! Very funny.
I'm re-reading "Wide Sargasso Sea" by Jean Rhys. It's a contemporary "sequel" to Bronte's "Jane Eyre" told from the point of view of Mr. Rochester's wife, the insane Bertha. Fascinating, layered story.
wow, cool. I will have to pick this up. definitely a bronte fan
As of yesterday, The Help. I love it, and recommend it.
The movie was great, but the book is even better.
@Deb57 It's amazing how closely the movie follows the book..I've not cringed once while reading the book.
I'm trying to get Ready Player One read before the movie comes out. I think I can do it.
I'm reading the second book in The Dark Choir series by J.P. Sloan. It's an urban fantasy series akin to The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Fun brain candy. [amazon.com]
Before that I read a FANTASTIC book about female sexuality called Come As You Are by Emily Nagoski. I can't recommend it enough. For everyone. Seriously. www.amazon.com/Come-You-Are-Surprising-Transform/dp/1476762090
Shantaram by Gregory Allen Roberts. Mostly true story of a very educated individual who became a heroin addict and was convicted and sent to prison in Austrailia where he escapes and flees to India where he spends maybe 10 yrs or so until he gets caught and sent back to Austrailia where he does his time and is released. The man knows how to write and the story is true for the most part. Look it up for reviews and his description of India and the people he meets is almost as good as Papillion.
I recently finished The Mistress of The Empire, third in the series beginning with Daughter of the Empire, by Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurts. It was fantastic! I greatly recommend it, and anything else by the authors, if you enjoy fantasy adventure or political drama and intrigue.
@Bostonian I'll have to check them out after I finish all of Feist's books, I still have a few more to go.
How to change the gas tank pressure sensor on a 2014 Equinox. Unless you have an Equinox with a bad gas tank pressure sensor then I wouldn't advise reading it. I have decided to cut a hold in the body big enough to also replace the fuel pump and manufacture a cover as well as replace the sensor, believe it or not it's easier.
The subtle art if not giving a f...k
its ok to dip in and out of
American Songwriter Magazine. I also won a subscription to the more sensational and vapid Entertainment Weekly lol. I have yet to read the Billy Joel biography I bought months ago. I recommend 2 out of the 3 if you like music, and of course Billy Joel.
I usually have two books going – one novel and one nonfiction.
Michael Ponsor is a judge who has written two novels. The first one is "The Hanging Judge," and the second one is "The One-Eyed Judge." As you might expect, similar to John Grisham.
My nonfiction is "Seven Skeletons," by Lydia Pyne. If you like to read about our ancestors and evolution, you might like this one.
I used my local libraries digital apps to borrow the above.
And The MOUNTAINS ECHOED, Khalid Hosseini, highly recommend... oddly I left the paperback on a plane, (1/2 way through) mentioned to my dentists receptionist, went n bought it for me, gave to me on my next visit.
Also by Hosseini, The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splenid Suns, both excellent... great insight into the Afghani people.
The Girl in the Road by Monica Byrne. So far very good.
