It's the absence of faith.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen Hebrews 11:1. I'm pretty sure all humans possess faith in something. I would propose however, that there are more than one type of faith. Christianity, for example, promises a reward for blind faith. The other type of faith is informed faith. Most of us have faith in scientifically proven truth. If we aren't the scientist who did the experiment than we are relying on faith in science to know a thing is true. You could also possess faith in your own logic as well.

I equate faith to gullability. Faith is an absolute belief without evidence to back it up.

I don't need faith to not believe the inadequate evidence presented by theists. I do not claim that no god(s) exist. I can only say that I have been presented with no evidence to show that a god(s) exists.

If you tell me that you keep an invisible dragon in your basement, it is not my job to prove that you don't. If you want me top believe you, Then you need to provide me with sufficient evidence that is independently verifiable and testable before I believe you.

Telling me that all your friends have experienced it too is not enough.

Atheism is fact-based, so not a faith.

Normally I would say it is not a faith, except that in my case, I believe there is no god, but there is no proof to back up my belief, so I hate to say that my disbelief in the existence of a god is based on faith.

No, because none of worship an deity that doesn't exist. We are open minded people. Not fools depending on dogma.

I think its a belief and way, not a faith per se.

The word faith has many meanings. So many that it is almost always equivocated. Faith can mean hope, a religious sect, expectations, beliefs, trust, etc. So, when someone tells me that, I asked, "What do you mean by 'faith'?"

I think some none believers are so into bitching about religion that there talking about it as much or more than religion so there just as bad. they bitch about it religiously. I personally really like this site and the interesting and as I call them real people on here. I don't think of myself as anything more than a thinking human being getting through life's ups and downs. that's what ants do, dogs do and tapeworms. I don't know what that makes me but its the closest I get to who I am.

One can have 'faith' in anything imo, the very first definition of faith is as follows, "complete trust or confidence in someone or something".....the second definition has to do with religion, spirituality etc.

I'd say it can be both. If you believe there is no god but have not looked for evidence of that, it could be described as a faith. If you think there is no god and have found evidence that logically convinces you of that, it's not a faith.

"I have seen no convincing evidence of a god." This statement requires no faith. "There is no god." is an assertion that may require faith.

No of course it is not a faith. Faith implies belief without any proof. Atheism is about the absence of proof for any alternative theory.
