I'd always assumed that it was just a joke and none of them really believed it, but apparently some of them genuinely do.

@Jnei If you look at flat-earther sites on the internet, there seem to be quite a lot of people who think it is important, but they don't really say why. The main reason seems to be religious, because the Bible says so, but there do seem to be some who believe a lot of pseudo-science.

@Jnei But, there are live views from the ISS of earth's surface moving below it. I think it is online 24x7. Of course, that is part of the conspiracy. But, he could hire a ride on a single engine airplane and go high enough to see the curvature.

I remember my great grandfather cursing at his TV when the pictures from the moon landing were shown. His daughter, my grandmother was born in 1905. so I am guessing grandpa was born in 1885 or before. Anyway, he was absolutely certain we could NOT have traveled to the moon. I just shook my tiny head. I regard flat earthers in much the same way.
