The real (and intended) beneficiaries of Trump's strike were Russia and Saudi Arabia.
-Russia benefits because Iran gets to restart its nuclear program which was largely purchased from Russia.
-Saudi Arabia would have had the benefit of Soleimani's support for Yemeni rebels being interrupted, if only for a moment. SA also would have benefitted from the second target that was missed, Abdul Rezi Shahlai, who set up the strike on the Saudi refineries.
-Shahlai was probably the initial target, but Soleimani was added at Putin's request for the reason noted. Recall that Trump had extended meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov this last December. Or, like Ukraine, both names came from Putin's Intelligence Services, the SVR/FSB. Seeking to do both actors at the same time required a quality of consideration that neither Trump nor our Pentagon are known for. As Pelosi said, 'All roads lead to Putin.'

You win. It's refreshing to see someone not get sidetracked from the main point.

@rainmanjr The horrific plane crash outside Tehran could also be the work of Putin. I'd say it is 60% likely that Putin arranged to have the SA-15 fire on the airliner. From Forbes: "Given the multiple means of detection and the distinctive flight profile of an airliner, there’s no excuse for the deadly mistake," says Carlo Kopp, cofounder of the think tank Air Power Australia. I believe it is entirely plausible that the Russians hacked the SA-15 in order to throw the Iranian government into the chaos we now see. If the Russians were coordinating Trump's assassination targets, it would be prudent to also take advantage of the situation by destabilizing Iran's government. Sowing division is Putin's favorite play.

Note that Russia suffered no consequences from shooting down the Malaysia Flight 17 in Ukraine.

Yes, he is correct. The same reason we didn't seek to overthrow Saddam Hussein after the first Gulf War. The intelligence community had eyes and ears on Solemani and agents in the field. They had better options keeping his in place and monitoring his movements so we can counteract. Once he was removed then you start all over again with whoever takes over. This was ignorance in its finest. People just do not understand what is happening behind the curtain.

The tRump people are working overtime, folks. They are infiltrating this site with their nonsensical garbage. Turning the statements around so the argument becomes about the original post being the one that proves their point. Circular firing squad.

Deflecting attention from his impeachment

Also Kerry now looks about 1K years older than he did.... I think he's as worried as the rest of us because he has a logical brain and knows what this could bring in reprisals and war.

Is this the same thing? For some reason, the video at the link you provided isn't playing for me.

Yes. Thanks for the help.

Every American should be required to watch corporate news? No

It's John Kerry replying to the corporate fat-head in our Oval Office. John Kerry negotiated the Iran Deal so is THE voice to fact check what the corporate gas-bag told US. The media is merely the broadcaster but you go ahead and refuse to listen because of some obscure point that isn't relevant.

@rainmanjr I agree with Kerry's response. I just don't care for the source of the video.

@RoboGraham Then it seems the point was worth the pain.
