Here's one of mine:

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

Our forefathers weren't the Pilgrims. We didn't land on Plymouth Rock; the rock was landed on us. ~Malcolm X

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” -Maya Angelou

Love that quote!

Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place.

"We can contend with the evil men do in the name of evil, may the heavens protect us from the evil that men do in the name of good" Herrodias, Greek philosopher, believe it was his third essay

I've had a crazy, busy work week capped off by this [quote] in a fortune cookie:

"You will soon be visited by aliens."

Never have I ever...yes, a fortune cookie

That's hysterical!

If you're bored, then you're boring. Alwyas sticks in my head, probably because it's catchy, but it reminds me to keep doing things that interest me, that make me grow as a person, even if it's simply to stave off boredom a little longer.

We have now reached the point where every goon with a grievance, every bitter bigot, merely has to place the prefix, 'I know this is not politically correct, but...' in front of the usual string of insults in order to be not just safe from criticism, but actually a card, a lad, even a hero. Conversely, to talk about poverty and inequality, to draw attention to the reality that discrimination and injustice are still facts of life, is to commit the sin of political correctness. Anti-PC has become the latest cover for creeps. It is a godsend for every curmudgeon and crank, from fascists to the merely smug.

...and another...

This is a good one!

@DonThiebaut I appreciate Fintan O'Toole's writing. He speaks my language. 🙂

Another one of mine:

"I have a total irreverence for anything connected with society except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer." ~Brendan Behan

"You are worth more than the sum of what you consume"

"No government will ever give you freedom"

“When we can't dream any longer we die.”

“Patriotism ... is a superstition artificially created and maintained through a network of lies and falsehoods; a superstition that robs man of his self-respect and dignity, and increases his arrogance and conceit.”

Who said those? Jnei? 🙂

@ailurophile The first is from a poem by Nicole Blackman, the second is an old anarchist standard (I doubt anyone knows who first said it), the third is Emma Goldman 🙂

@ailurophile The fourth (which I just added) is Goldman too 🙂

@Jnei She's one of my heroines!

@ailurophile And mine!
