Whether you're a fisherman or not, I think you'll find this fascinating. Scroll down to see all the creatures of the sea, at the depths at which they exist. Then someone explain to me what a bird is doing at 208 meters. [neal.fun]

Thanks! Really fun information.
Thick-billed murres dive for fish(208m). Emperor penguins go deeper (526m), and can stay under for 27 minutes.

Thanks for posting that! Nature is so amazing. I hope it sticks around a little longer.

There is a giant "worm" in a very deep Iceland lake down about that 200 meters deep dozens if not a hundred feet long and strong enough to chew or twist a very strong telegraph cable laid across the lake....does not look like Lochness "monster" but seems similar in size ....I cannot spell in Icelandian but these deep lakes are kept warm by volcanic activity fed fresh water from glaciers.....penguins are "birds" that fly deep into water feeding on seafood but refuse to migrate away from the most fucking cold place on earth where they huddle together keeping their eggs warm.... given how some human "animals" refuse to evolve and cause climate degradation and pollution and ecocide for conformist greed..... it seems only Atheists want to learn from other species of flora and fauna while we suffer from theocrat crimes against nature

That's a good point. The so-called guardians of god's earth are only concerned with their own greed and scorched earth policies while "heathens" like us are concerned about the future of the planet.

What's amazing was what was found at 2400 meters deep...

I posted this a couple of days ago and noted this bird, the Thick-Billed Murre can dive to 210 meters. The sperm whale at 920 meters and the Orange Roughy (which some of us eat) which can live to 200 years is down to a whopping 1,100 meters. This is a fascinating depiction and gives one an idea of how deep the ocean really is.

Sorry Jack. I didn't see your post. But yes, this is a fascinating presentation. I've never really looked at it like this before. Hard to believe anything can exist at those depths. It's an amazing world . As for the orange roughy, we already have one in the white house, so that's enough 😉

@TheoryNumber3 Hmm, I wonder if posts by women get more responses than those same ones by men. My post, just 2 days before yours, got several reactions ( 4 ) but no replies. Yours has definitely garnered more attention (even discounting my replies). Interesting, phenomena and I am sure studies have been done on this.

@JackPedigo Not necessarily. I post things I think are fascinating and they get one or two likes. I think it just depends on the traffic passing by. As for reposting, I wish there was a way to avoid that. I've done it a couple of times, but short of looking at every post from the year 1, I can't imagine how to avoid it.

@TheoryNumber3 Actually, it might be a way of increasing our views. Too bad we both can't get each other's points! Is it about us or the items we post?

I think the bird is just able to dive down to that level. Impressive!
