For those of you who are ex-Christian like me, since leaving have you had Christians try to convince you you are wrong/"bring you back" using Jesus' "love and sacrifice" as a "compelling" argument?
Yesterday, I had an acquaintance repeatedly try to use Jesus' supposed dying on the cross as the reason she's in the faith despite her misgivings about evil in the world and evil in the Bible (mass murder, endorsement of rape, subjugation of women, homophobia etc sanctioned by god). I didn't know how to tell her--or maybe I didn't have the heart to tell her--I find the whole idea absolutely REVOLTING. That god would supposedly kill his son--who is supposedly also himself--to exploit a loophole that HE created, the message that we are ALL so VILE as humans that god had to kill himself. They make it sound like some beautiful act, but it appalls and disgusts me to no end.
