Religions unfortunately have been around for thousands of years and are very unlikely to ever go away.
We will have to deal with these steps back. The good thing is in the frist world countries religion is loosing ground. The other nations do tend to eventually adopt first world customs and practices. So there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It is a very long tunnel indeed.
