I have copied the concluding comments from the article linked below. Do you agree with Chomsky’s analysis? That while Neoliberalism is in its death throes, it will be replaced by right-wing extremism and fascism? And Bernie Sanders is the only real hope for the US?

“As the neoliberal order is visibly collapsing, it is giving rise to “morbid symptoms” (to borrow Gramsci’s famous phrase when the fascist plague was looming). Among these are the spread of authoritarianism and the far right that you mention. More generally, what we are witnessing is quite understandable anger, resentment and contempt for the political institutions that have implemented the neoliberal assault — but also the rise of activist movements that seek to overcome the ills of global society and to stem and reverse the race to destruction.

The confrontation could hardly have been exhibited more dramatically than by the appearance of Greta Thunberg immediately after the most powerful man in the world — the leader in the race to destruction — had admonished the Masters to disdain the “heirs of yesterday’s foolish fortune tellers” (virtually 100 percent of climate scientists) and to take up his wrecking ball.“

The right hates being asked to be accountable for their boorish behavior. For three Centuries whites have had a strangle hold on the Nation. Early on they held the country by weapon superiority. Once they gained a controll of all the land and territory, they switched controlling non-whites by controlling access to resources. They controlled the economics and the finances

Finally, marginalized communities and minorities are becoming numerous enough to reclaim some of that control. They are not asking anything for anything that is not rightfully due to them. They are asking for respect, a rightfull share of the economic pie commensurate with their numbers in society, and the contributions that they have made to society.

Right wingers hate this. They are losing the control of society (about time). They are used to white privilege and not having to be held accountable for their behavior. They are now being forced to account for their actions and the don't like it.

As a consequence they are lashing out. The boors are better organized than the left because they are afraid of their lost control. A worldwide alt-right movement is occurring. The alt-right is comfortable with hate and violence. Liberals tend not to be. It's not that the alt-right is correct in their demands, actions and behaviors, they are not. Their just louder and more lemming-like and more intimidating.

Not sure where his contention that neoliberalism is collapsing. The authoritarianism he fires is surely an outcropping of neoliberalism.

Bernie is the only candidate who is trying to address the real problems, rather than the usual identity politics, that led to Trump. Besides the fact that I think he's the only one who could beat Trump, the fact is that even if one of the other candidates somehow beat Trump, it would be a replay of Obama with more neoliberalism and feel-good identity politics that would give us someone even worse than Trump in 4-8 years after the voters realized they'd been conned again, as they did after Obama...
