Pelosi says the House will be taking up the ERA. That reminded me of one of my proudest Oklahoma group efforts. The Oklahoma Women's Political Caucus was organized to get the ERA passed. With my dynamic friend, Wanda Jo Peltier's leadership, we came within one vote of getting it passed. She also made our state caucus the 2nd largest in the US only surpassed by NY. I had 1000 of these printed and within 2 months I had sold them all over the US and only had a handful left. Evidently I wasn't wrong. It did not go away.
It appears the issue of the ERA being added to the Constitution is contingent upon whether Congress legally will extend or remove the ratification deadline.
Very cool. About time. Didn't VA pass? How many more states do we need?
Virginia ratified January 15, 2020. I think we need 38 total, and Virginia was the 38th. However, ratifications done after the deadline of Juno 30, 1982 have been contested, and that brings the total to under the two-thirds ( 38 ) necessary for the amendment to be added to the US Constitution.
Equal Rights Amendment?
How is that the top priority after all these years? Do civil liberties first, do infrastructure bill first... win fucking Congressional seats first
Congressional bills don't mean a thing today, so why not pass a strong gun control bill first? Fear losing votes on the second amendment just like Beto started losing when he started talking guns?
Come on we can do more than one thing at a time pal.
@Lorajay There are many things like this. Civil rights is about black people, cultural sensitivity about ethnic minorities, racism is largely about people who are not white including immigrants. Why do you think women are more important than all else? Is everything in this world has to be about women first?
