In this post i express my thoughts on it.
Any other thoughts of the issue??
it is logical, but when was religion logical?
to most religions the existence of the infidel, especially the non believer, IS a blasphemy as failure to follow the one true faith is a choice to be evil.
All systems of thought should be open to criticism—religion, philosophy, science. No human ideas are so sacrosanct that they can’t be challenged, because at heart we humans understand nothing.
Those who attempt to enforce belief through appeal to authority are doomed to failure. The Bible is no authority and the 97% consensus argument is the same.
Totally agree, but the concept of blasphemy laws didn't contemplate the framing of a modern secular state. Conservative religion has never wanted to share society with others, but to dominate it and impose its will on others; it's inherently authoritarian and fascistic.
The blasphemy laws still on the books are vestiges of a time when religion and government were intertwined.
