Possibly I have joined this group without fully understanding the point of the group. Having read the comments to the question about what atheists do on Easter, I find the rudeness of the group unacceptable to my way of thinking. I am 80 and old enough to know that kindness and understanding of the needs of others is significant to my own happiness. Smart remarks about eating babies surprises me as that seems rather passe to bring up in this discussion. Ron Reagan in his TV remarks about being an atheist suggest humor without being obnoxious

I think that those remarks might have been meant to be humorous.

Traditionally, our family has brunch at a local restaurant. We have one young child and he will hunt for colored eggs with a basket at his home before the brunch. We share gifts with one another usually in colorful sacks. We thinkof this a a cultural rite of spring. One of us will have had a Passover meal on Saturday night with her Jewish boyfriend. We love all the cultural aspect of what are traditionally religious holiays with roots that are often a mixture of reasons. We never disrespect those who follow their own religious activities for they are our friends and some are family members. I am 80 years old and have been an atheist since my twenties.

Joking amongst friends is acceptable behavior here. It's also not required. If it upsets you, you are welcome to scroll on by.
