IMHO, both Blade Runner films are sci-fi classics.

For some reason Blade Runner was one of my favourite childhood films. An odd choice for a kid, but I got into everything; the book, the video game, the various cuts and remasters that came over the years. 2049 actually worked, I enjoyed it far more than I expected to.

I can only enjoy the sequel when I think it's the forerunner of a series where people buck against such a horrendously money orientated and sexist system; but there was a hint of some strong female protagonists at the end. Bladerunner 1 was so ahead of it's time and is still so excellent, I don't think anything can beat it.

Thank you for the endorsement. The wife and I are remorseful to not have seen it at a theater.

Dick is one of my fave authors. Good to know this was not as stupid as the total recall remake fiasco.

I did watch the directors cut first and then the narrative with Ford's voice- Liked it much better. It gave us an opportunity to use key phrases and turn them into a song. One of the team members wrote a song (required) It rocked. So much fun

I just checked out the Blade Runner 2049 movie from the library today. Hoping it's going to be good.

I was wondering if I had to see it. Now, you have given the little push to do so. When I heard about a new Blade Runner, I was just like you. 1st, it's nearly impossible to beat the first one. It was so well done, so intricate and thoughtful... I knew it would be a tough movie to beat. But I was not expecting a fan of the original to say it is a worthy sequal. Especially to Blade Runner. Yes, NOW I have to see it.

I have it, but haven't watched it for the same reason. And someone I sorta trust told me she hated it. I'm gonna go on your word...don't screw me on this...hehe

That's rare. Sequels and remakes are frequently disappointing. Have you read the original story?

Saw the original dozens of times. saw the new one twice. I liked it, but I don't think it stsnds up to the original.

Excellent movie, I loved it.

I have tried to watch the original many times as I am a fan of Ridley Schott's work, But unfortunately I can't get into it. Its slow broody and for me quite boring. Visually stunning Yes. I want to watch it as I feel I'm missing something but the film won't grab me.

Blade Runner is one of my top 3 movies. The sequel? I hated it. No, I really f-ing hated it. It ranks as my top disappointing sequel ever. Almost as worthless as Howard the Duck which rates as the worst movie of all time.

I hated 2049.
Empty, soulless, dull--and not in the way BR was slow.
Just overly predictable and a hackneyed reboot--same as nearly any of the rebooted franchises we've seen.

I totally resent the Blade Runner movie, since, from then on, all dystopian movies are dark as though at night, with trashed buildings, people preying on and killing each other, cyborgs who kill humans, etc.

It's such a dreary sameness to every sci-fi futuristic movie that I now yell at the lastest sci-fi shows on Netflix, "STOP COPYING BLADE RUNNER you imagination-deprived nut cases. The sun DOES shine sometimes, even in the future, for heaven's sake!"
