Why do amens not work....
Just curious as to why amens don't work...If amens were worth a Pound/dollar in real cash to help americans who go into hospital for a major operation with amens...not realizing that the surgeon can actually help them...but he is waiting for you to donate more to help pay his fees...would there be more amens...
In my experience, resounding amens are a tool used to manipulate emotion in a group setting. Speaking and singing in unison (including laughter, cheers and boos) can incite a bonding effect, whether in a secular or so-called sacred setting.
For the same reason wishful thinking does not work, chanting does not work and dynopsyching does not work.
It is all bullcrap.
How many Amens could an Anglican assert if an Anglican could Assert Amens?
Amon was an Egyptian god. When the Egyptians ended their prayers they ended it with their gods name. Amon became Amen in The Hebrew language. Mysteriously, the Jews who had, had perhaps more than 1000 years exposure to Egyptian gods also ended their prayers with Amon/Amen.
So when Christians also now end their prayers with Amen they are actually paying omage to an ancient Egytpian god! Who knew?....well I did!
I understand that the scholarly position is inclined toward the Hebrew/Egyptian connection being coincidental.
@Geoffrey51 Theologically that is so, but among historians, linguists, philologists, lexicographist and people who actually do have some intellectual merit as experts the connection is an accepted theory, especially given that the Jews insist their traditions of temples, ritual washing and much else that they despised and persecuted the non exilic Jews and Samaritans for not observing all did come from Egypt.
@LenHazell53 Okay soundsmlike I would love to talk talk to you! There are few with that background of knowledge.
I thought they did, that’s why some people do them!
