Maybe the Latin words are "biblical" but most of those rabbits are metaphors of common people triumphant over rulers or invaders....rabbits are fast breeders and a favorite easy to hunt local food source also.....notice how rabbits are portrayed swift and capable while opponents are slow riding snails

Hares were/are representative of fertility hence the Easter Bunny and by association, young women.

As such they were considered a temptation to medieval clerics.

There are a few folk songs collected relating to woman and the hare.

This is a reasonably well known rendition by Steeleye Span although there are songs with different lyrical content.

They are considered Hares not rabbits!

It seems that the White Hare was a symbol of retribution for punishment and crimes committed against women and the poor, that is a loose interpretation of mythologies from around the planet through the ages!!!
