Lat's not forget that Cuba accomplished these things while being under harsh economic embargo from the world super power which is just 90 miles from it's shores and the starting point for their economy was extreme poverty and near total dependence on the USA while under Batista.
Say what you will about their brutal regime and authoritarian government but you have to give credit where credit is due.
Totally.
I was about to say the same thing.
Good post. Us boomers are are still influenced by The Red Scare—a highly successful propaganda campaign by the U.S. government to influence opinion against FDR’s progressive movement, which challenged the capitalist’s profit-making machine. There’s an excellent book by Peter Kuznik, and documentary series by Kuznik and Oliver Stone, called The Untold History of the United States, that recounts the history and the scare that remains with us, as your post reveals. Thanks for sharing this.
As far as I know Cuba has communism and a dictator for their leader ?
No idea if they feed their homeless . But their citizens I know first hand are living in fear and starving .
To be caught w a cow , = prison . I have many Cuban friends from my time to Florida and many here in Virginia Beach . Hard working people . None of them want to live in Cuba .
One of my traveling nurses , Armando , was going to visit his father back in Cuba last year . He was worrying for having too much cash w him in his wallet , and he was hoping that this will be the trip to convince the old birds to migrate .
That’s all i know about Cuba , what I ve been told from cubans .
