I found this on VOX its kinda like a feel at points. It is what I used to ponder.
Check it out
I read part of the Vox article.
I agree with the main points, as I understand them.
We, or at least I, enjoy certain moments of life, as we live it, day by day,
moment by moment.
I savor so many moments.
I feel slightly depressed,
when I think of the basic truth,
that we have no big, grand goals in life,
no big, grand moments to live.
But we can all do as I do:
Savor the small and the medium goals.
Savor them.
For example,
my wife and I will soon make a will.
A last will and testament.
That will make us feel good,
that others will have a few thousand dollars extra,
when my wife and I are gone.
That is a medium goal.
Small goals are chores like getting the laundry done.
That reminds me,
I need to go get the load out of the dryer,
and put my sister-in-law's items from the washer to the dryer.
That is the purpose of my life!
Too stupid to read and take seriously for me. Question of "do you think death is a blessing?" My answer would be only if being alive was causing you so much constant pain that you could no longer bear to live. Why would I be concerned with questions like this? Why would I think there is a purpose to life? Maybe that question centers around my life being all about me, me, me!
I never understood why there had to be a purpose. We're just life forms. Granted, pretty impressive ones. But just life forms. Where does all this purpose stuff come from??
No reason from our perspective. I do believe something created the universe, but as to why, or who that entity is or does the entity give a rat's ass about us, I can't know. So I am a deist/agnostic? I do not follow any religion, I try to keep some of the better rules though. I am a humanist as far as society is concerned. Helping each other makes being alive better, safer, easier.
I sometimes meditate, but never "pray". One can "pray to the milk jug" it will be as effective as praying to a deity. The fact that on occasion I bring precooked homemade food to a catholic food pantry does not a catholic make me. I know it confuses them when I do, since I told them I was an Atheist. They adore my soups, and the herbed wined chicken breasts were quite a hit.
ciao
Anybody who in all seriousness asks "What is the meaning of life?" has failed to realise that the question is nonsense.
Mankind has had its head up its ass since the first notion of a god and religion was born.....nothing much has changed!
