I am watching a very interesting and thought provoking program, "Alien Gods", available free on Amazon Prime.
I think this provides some convincing answers through convincing evidence - at least things to consider. It explains the concoction of gods, and in turn, makes it difficult to discount alien visitations to earth and their interactions with primitive humans. Ancient humans created these gods as a way to explain what they were seeing...

Sometimes it gets loopy, but in general it is very convincing. It certainly seems like we have been visited in the past and probably are right now, as we speak.

I'll reserve judgment until there is actual evidence, it makes for a good story though

Agreed. However, since we do not, nor likely ever will, have concrete evidence, I'd rather go on this than justify in any ideology that has evolved into pure power and control.
