The Coronavirus has hit America really hard, people do not know what is going to happen next. I believe that this is going to hurt religion, what do you think?
I don't know. Usually in times like this people turn closer to their religion of choice... usually. I suppose it would depend greatly if that religious person thinks some god is really in control or if they just created it and we put this crap on ourselves. Yea, there are some that do believe that and stick with their religion anyway. Perhaps they hope if they stay loyal that they will be spared. Seems to me those who stay loyal end up the hardest hit in such things... maybe that's just my own observation. Or maybe its that they believe so much that logic goes so far out the window that they put themselves in it purposefully.
The wise will see religion for what it is a confidence game that while it may be comforting is based in an ignorance of the world that if taken to heart costs the lives of unyielding believers and seek solace elsewhere. The ignorant will become more entrenched in their beliefs if they haven't died from them and the world, ...will go on...
When it passes they will thank god without giving it due credit for "creating" it and killing people.
It will. People are having to say away from religious gatherings and the ministers are still pushing to be allowed to keep their gatherings at the risk of the community. This kind of hypocrisy can't help but be noticed. Besides people were leaving religion in large number before the pandemic.
I feel that the situation is being blown far out of proportion and that the epidemic will be over at some point, leaving us embarrassed by stockpiles of TP, etc. If we are being hit hard it is because we are hitting ourselves.
The religious impulse is an integral part of humanity. Religion always springs back.
Yep " God saved us!"..... "who is playing ball on TV?"
It’s bringing home a reality that’s impossible to deny.. Even our US ‘leader’ has had to concede, in a way ..that it’s bigger than him. The religious ‘over here’ remind me of the Italian guy I watched ‘laugh it off’ a couple weeks ago … something like, ‘We in Italy are affectionate people,’ ‘There is no way this is going to make us stop!’
