Part of my indoctrination as a believer was that humans have souls and other creatures do not. I have come to realize that there are believers who think they will see their pets in the afterlife.
To those of you who are former believers: Did you believe people would see their pets in the afterlife?
To anyone who believes in souls/spirits despite not necessarily believing in a god, do you think nonhumans have souls/spirits?
Question what is a soul? I see it as the sum of who we are, whether a human, cat or frog. Does this continue after the physical has stopped? Frankly I don't know.
Our brains are amazing bits of processing goo. Study animals, they have personalities, perhaps this is the soul.
So far I have seen no evidence that anything goes on past death.
I once believed that I would see my deceased pets in my own afterlife, this as a result of having been told as child manifest untruths from the adults who were around me at the time.
If I was to have such liars at my mercy now, I would hold each and every one of them in durance vile until such time as they each demonstrated the existence of the god which they claimed.
