I don't think it's inflated in NYC...

I haven’t heard of anyone saying that the deaths are inflated, but just that in many cases there were existing health problems and that the virus was only the final blow.

If the death count is inflated the inflaters are doing a very poor job. The US for example is said to have lost a staggering 0.007% of its population. Compare that with a loss of up to 9% from previous epidemics.

The death rate is not being inflated—it’s being ignored in favor of general media hype and fear.

I think that in most countries they are under counted. Certainly it is said that some theocracies like Iran are deliberately under declaring, while in many like the UK only deaths in hospital are being counted. And many third world countries if not actually downing the figures, just may not have the means to count properly.
