The disaster upon us for women, low-wage workers, immigrants, and renters:

The reality of what's happening right now is so disturbing. I need time to gather myself everything I consume any news.
Please don't let it bring you down. I feel the same some days. We will get through this.
Thank you. I've been avoiding watching a lot of news. I think it's stories like the one posted that really get me. Even when I go pick up a few things at a local store I can see the stress in all the women who work there. They are on edge and sometimes yell at people to stand back. I don't even get upset with them for being rude. I just feel sorry for them and apologize so I don't make it worse.
Overall, I've been in great spirits because I'm self sufficient and began preparing in early February. It's seeing all the pain that so tough. I'm sure you can relate.
@Athena I haven't seen this reaction personally at stores, although I did see a woman a ways back who was acting very short-tempered in the store. She had been on the phone with I think it was her partner, and I couldn't tell if was him or the coronavirus that had put her in a bad mood. I think it was the virus. But after that interaction I thought that this building stress is going to cause an increase in all manner of problems with people, especially those who already have serious problems to start.
Yes you certainly do think about those that are living in the harshest conditions. Now with this pandemic it must be made so much worse. And nations where there are no social safety nets. It is very terrible. It will not be just the virus itself that will kill and harm. There are many additional, second tier problems as a result. Abuse, mental health, financial stress, food insecurity, job loss - it is not good. This is why we absolutely must all be on board with following government guidelines and demanding government take a very cautious approach to reopening. Do we want to prolong the problem? Remember in Wuhan, China where people were dragged into quarantine and doors were soldered shut, it is NOW open for business. The mall is open there!
I felt extremely upset yesterday reading about new instances of covid hot spots in my state and the government's response of not telling the public exactly where the hotspots were occurring. It relates back to nursing homes. But WHERE is the logic in NOT disclosing more precise info on covid infections? Should privacy concerns REALLY be our overriding concern in a pandemic? It seems absolutely counterproductive. We have to put an END to this! Our procedures need to change in response to the challenges we are facing. Potential danger to public health far outweighs privacy in regard to naming locations of hot spots.
