The god virus by Darrel Ray is the most under rated book in the secular community. I can not express how important of a work it is. Other than that how to create an atheist by Peter Boghossian, is an absolute must read. I don't need to mention the others...
I don't really need to read atheist literature (mostly because though I am one, I don't feel the need to defend myself to anyone about it), but your enthusiasm makes me want to check them out.
@Sciencemama Both books simply made it easier to articulate my thoughts simply. They really are the best works for teaching others simply our outlook on life.
"It's one thing for a writer to be principled, and it's one thing for a writer to be a jerk; it’s a rare thing to be a principled jerk, and that's what Hitchens was." That's a quote I lifted from [theweek.com]
It's amazing how different we all are. I just thought Hitchens was a jerk.
But, I'll admit, I'm not an Atheist.
What do you all like about Hitchens?
@Tomed thank you for explaining. He certainly was brilliant, Hitchens and his brother. But brilliance wrapped in testosterone...I always think the world could use less of that.
Pat Condell is a very acerbic anti-theist who has two books that are transcriptions of his youtube videos, an example of which I put below. He tells it like it is as does Matt Dillahunty who I think may have a book in the works. I put a video of him below as well. Dillahunty's co-host in the video is Darrell Ray who has several books on sexuality from a secular perspective. And Seth Andrews of the Thinking Atheist podcast has a book out. He is impressively knowledgeable, though not quite as much in the Hitchens mold Condell or Dillahunty.
Brutally frank, but unerringly accurate.
I am a great admirer of Matt, a real take no prisoners, tell it how it is speaker.
From the same area and back ground Jeff Dee, is another great speaker and commentator, who pulls no punches.
Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett... just to name a few
No one like Christopher Hitchens, if you ask me.
Well he's dead. And we didn't.
Oh no worries....and we all are, we just don't know when. Peace....
