We are an eclectic group on this site: gay, straight, American, Brit, Aussie, Kiwi, agnostic, atheist, with varying levels in between. Sometimes we "split hairs" over meanings, interpretations, but there seems to be an overriding respect and feeling of belonging. We celebrate our similarities.
There are countless Christian churches throughout the U.S. and the world, many of which claim a monopoly on truth which they gleaned from an obscure phrase or passage in the Bible. So many of these groups ignore the similarities and emphasize the differences.
Take what you want from this, but know that, as humanists, we must seek out the best in ourselves and those around us.

Play nice and celebrate our differences as we embrace our similarities.

I do play nice. leave me alone. I wish you all the woderful happiness and joy this world can give. I have a HIGH /IQ, A COLLEGE 4.0. I am 70. I have been through much and seen many hurt. I am a activist, and I am there for my planet and everything on it. Do not try to label me. Don't ever tell me how to behave or what to do. I have a well functioning brain and I wish nothing harm.

@BettyColeman I fail to see how either of my responses in this thread caused such emotion.

@Angelface perhaps you should read them all below.

Hear! Hear!

@BettyColeman What is that all abou?

@wordywalt There are die hard atheists in this social group and they harass. You have read them. Even though you pretend not to know. They have a post down the way that they states they will have everyone converted to atheists no how many centries it takes. If you are all die hard atheists, then change you group from where you welcome everone with different belief systems and share. What does your 'Hear Hear' mean? I understand nothing you people do in the group.None of us have prrof for 100% what is the right path. I am liberal enough to think there just might be more paths to follow than one. I am happy and wish others goodness and happiness. I share positive feelings and energy. I am not here to tell people when you die there is no place to go. They don't know that and neither do I. If they believ there is a heaven, so what if they believe there is a heaven. You can't prove there isn't and it really is their dream, their belief system which our constitution gives them the right to freedom of religion. I am not here to condemn anyone, but read some great knowledge and intelligent converstaions. This room of this social group is hateful mostly. I am quitting the group. Too many people in here want to tell you who you are and what to believe. My mind is something I share, but allow no one to make my decisions. I can change that mind if I am seeing that another way would be better, but not because someone thinks they need to fix me. I wish all here happiness and no harm regardless of what beliefs they have. I only expect the same respect from others.

@BettyColeman I reject your assessment. Yes, I am an atheist and I state my opinions, which you have every right to reject, if you see fit. I do not hate believers -- my wife is a devout Catholic and I respect her right to believe as she chooses so long as she respects my right to believe as I choose. I do not hate religious people, but I do hate religious people trying to cram their religion down my throat and trying to mix politics and religion to enact their theology into law. You obviously don't know who I am at my core, nor what I want from a dialogue. It does bother me that you accuse me of things that are not true.

Ah yes, but are we a group to come together and show the world the people can love, be friendly, and respect others with different belief systems? That is what I thought I was joining. Instead all I see are people putting down others because they are different. They are not making anything special happen in here. Just fight and poke fun of differenrt god concepts and harass if they think you disagree. That is the way the world is now. I want humanity to evolve, not stay in the same place or become extinct. The way some members are on here, I just do my best to steer clear of them! Just what is the purpose of this group? To be there for anyone regardless of race or religion? To make something special? Or follow that same old path?

I haven't seen it that way. I regret that such has been your experience.

@tioteo I don't believe you. You don't read many posts then. That is ok. You see what you see. I will look for the rainbow. Good luck.

@tioteo There are a whole bunch of offensive posts/comments. I have seen them some in a write:
i am 100% atheist.and on from there with a rant, not Hi everyone. I hope you had a grand day. What is all the chat about? there was a comment earlier that said, Posts that don't advocate violence and if it isn't violent or harmful must be deleted. It is gone now. Tell me is that what we are suppose to do? You can or I can delete this after you read it.I want you opinion though. then message me. I will wait and delete this.

@tioteo you come up as wordywalt? is it a mistake or another name?

I am NOT wordywalt. I have opened only one account here and that is with the username tioteo.

@tioteo your program has lots of bugs most of the morning the site did not work. I suggest you read down to the end from top instad of reading one post.

We definitely do. We are an example how diversity can work.

This meme is an example of some of our religious backgrounds.

Fuck the religious crap

We all agree there is no god though.

No one knows if there is or is not a GOD. A person who is agnostic is not sure if there is or is not a god. You still don't get it. You are making decisions for others. The idea is to be accepting regardless of what someone believes. You prove to me beyond a reasonable doubt there is no God. You can't. All the galaxies and the cosmos could have been created by another handiwork. The idea is to allow another person to BE what they are without condemning them. No atheists like it when someone gets all over them, but yet there are those atheists who have no tolerance. Be an atheist. I could care less, but do not say everyone else is too. I make my own decisions in life and others, like you deserve the same right. The site is down and at the moment, I cannot block. I have zero desire to associate with such a closed mind.

@BettyColeman I am an atheist though, I believe there is no god, you cannot prove the non existence of anything but hat does not imply that it does exist. Any god of man thus far can be dis-proven.

@BettyColeman Okay, sorry, I forget sometimes that there are those whom don't know.

no. there are others on in this social chat who are not sure. You cannot prove their isn't or there is.You have no tolerance of others. There are some Christians in this group. The 1st amendment gives you the right to choose your own belief system. Rugglesby, I am so tired of your mumbo jumbo just to argue, soon as I finish this, i will block you. Fact is the atheists in this social group will not allow others to believe differently.

@BettyColeman I respect your comment and you.

I'd amend that to we agree there is no reasonable evidential proof that a god or gods exist, and that is is highly unlikely there ever will be. Therefore asserting definitely and even violently that such a being does exist, is a pretty dumb thing to do?

@BettyColeman but aren't you doing the same? Arguing with people over the validity of their beliefs?

I think you hit the nail on the head. We do have differences and respect them. We do not squabble about "the right teachings", rather we explore others ideas.

Couldn't have said it better.
