Since it is Memorial Day I want to give a salute to all those Atheist/Agnostics who fought, and died. for their nation.

Not for some imaginary god.

Not for some "higher purpose" that's mythological, or imaginary - as most here know that religion is.

just because they thought defending our nation was the right thing to do.

Sad that the only stone memorial I found dedicated to Atheists/Agnostics is in Alabama.

Pat Tillman was a famous atheist who fought for the US...and died in Afghanistan - allegedly accidentally by "friendly fire"....uh - huh....

I'm also sharing the pre- 1956 pledge of Allegiance...it was to our Flag...and the US...but it wasn't "under God"....the #religulous paranoids had that added to the pledge and to our printed and stamped money in '56.

"Pat Tillman was a famous atheist who fought for the US...and died in Afghanistan - allegedly accidentally by "friendly fire"....uh - huh...."

Do you doubt the findings of the inquiries made into the Tillman tragedy? Do you offer evidence that what we (the public and the Tillman family) have been told regarding the incident is not factual?

No, I don't.

But are you willing to admit that we are all, as atheists and agnostics, subject to a social hatred and fear against us?

I won't make any "conspiracy theories"...but I do know that the #religulous - and perhaps you - fear and hate us.

@Robecology "and perhaps you [me?] - fear and hate us." WTF? These are the words of a fear monger ... we who do not believe in a deity must rise above such recriminatory rhetoric.

I have been wondering how defending “our “ nation works for USA as no nation has actually invaded them, and then they are so very good friends with the Saudis who did the 9/11 job. How does that work?

I had thought that the friendship with Saudi was because they have lots of oil but so has Venezuela and the USA is trying to starve the Venezuelan people with draconian sanctions. It's a funny old world.

@Moravian They are trying to starve the Venezuelans because they want to take over the country and steal their oil.

@Jolanta Sacked national security advisor John Bolton admitted as much. At least he had a bit of honesty unlike the rest of the bunch.

Point taken.

It's been a sad delusion...fighting for the "U.S. of A."

We now have a presence (and many would call it, an "imperialistic presence) in 151 different nations. Here's the list;

[en.wikipedia.org]

@Jolanta As I am agnostic....I would like to see documentation for your allegations, please?

@Robecology So you have no clue who the people that bombed 9/11 were from then, or you have not noticed that the US is a good friend of the Saudis either or that at the US has invaded more than 50 + countries since the second world war.

@Jolanta We all have clues; from the fact that 15 of the 19 9/11 suicide assassins were Saudi to the death of Kashoghi.

But that's all we have.
We just have nothing concrete. nothing solid.
They're clever. Those who deal with them are slick. I

I leave you with telling "memes" -

but again, they're our "ally" so we have no evidence.

@Robecology You mean just like we don't have evidence that god exists or not.

@Jolanta I take agnosticism and science seriously. Evidence is important...in science and in courts.

Thanks. I didn’t die, but I am a veteran.

Remember; there's Veterans Day, and Memorial Day. May 31'st is designated "In memory of those who have died serving our nation". I call my various Veteran-friends and thank them on Veterans Day.

This meme/image explains it...

@Robecology I know.

And I extend it to those who defended the religious rights of all Americans. If they want to have an imaginary friend, they have that right. Those same defended rights also prevent them from imposing their religion on us by law.

Yes; that's kind of understood....those who fight or have fought for the USA also fought for the freedom to worship as you chose.

But....You won't find any agnostics or atheists protesting any religious groups or events...but you will find the religious protesting the agnostics...so in a sense I don't see the necessity to defend their right to attack and defame us...when we do nothing even close to defaming them.

So you might "extend it to those who defended the religious rights of all Americans' I won't.

Thank you so very much!!!

The truth has been hidden away for far too long!!!

The USA was never a Christian nation!!!
