This is the work of 'missionaries' in all likelihood from the USA. A modern-day witch-killing, in Guatemala:

More ties to ignorance and religion. One would think the world would be past these barbarities.

@Allamanda One problem the Catholic church has been having is, with all the corruptness coming from the church (pedophilia, theft, dishonesty, attitude toward women) the church is now focusing more on developing countries. I can see it's ripe pickings but my worry is that it will only exacerbate the issue of a lack of family planning. People also need the local resources and more of them the fewer the resources. Remember, Ebola came from an expanding population encroaching more on areas inhabited by the non-human species. This can and does affect the rest of the world.

@Allamanda I guess the religious just have to get their hands into everything. I see it as being in denial of their ridiculous beliefs and trying to gain truth through fooling others. Unfortunately, this sort of violence and hatred only gets people to turn away from them. All that's left are the poor and uneducated.

An appalling spectacle. Like something from the middle ages in Europe. Children looking on at this barbaric act of "justice". Evangelical Churches from the US have been promoting a particularly poisonous and hateful form of Christianity around the globe. Not just in Latin America but in Africa too. They have been praising and supporting African governments that have made gay sex punishable with the Death Penalty. These Churches are tax exempt in the US. And they use there funds to promote bigotry and hatred around the globe.

@Allamanda First world countries imposing Bigotry and hatred on poor developing nations that need help, not this form of abuse. Very upsetting to see Evangelicals taking advantage of poor uneducated people like this. I firmly believe that they go to these countries to take advantage of the some of the most vulnerable people on our planet.

And don't forget Australia where missionaries are getting native people to destroy their cultural heritage. Not perhaps as bad as killing people, but still showing the same sort of hate and contempt.
