When will the people smarten up the bible promotes racism,it even has rules on how to deal with your slave? In addition to causing many problems for women by making them second class humans. And this bullshit is still taught!

Most "Christians" have never read the book, but know a few names and passages parrot fashion that they learned in school and church when they were toddlers, and assume it is all more of the same stuff or think it is something useful to have around in case you ever need to repel a ghost or a vampire.

The bible is a mess, and so you can therefore find anything you want in it. And it is that which keeps it popular, because it gives you a justification for anything you want. A well constructed book, with no contradictions and a plain logical meaning, requiring no interpretation, could never be the basis of a major religion, because only a few people would truly agree with it.
All the books that form the basis of major religions from the Tao, to the Koran etc. are messy and vague, but the bible is the vaguest of all, and is also the basis of the biggest religion. Figures ?
