Have you ever been offended by being an agnostic or atheist?
No, but I had a big chuckle when I was in the Phillipines and spoke to a Catholic priest and when he asked me about my religion and I said I was an agnostic he said he never heard of it. He actually thought it was a religion. I did not put him straight.
Aw, bless his ignorant little head!
@anglophone I like the way this turned out.
I am regularly offended by the dishonesty of religion, intentional and prideful ignorance, untestable claims, and the psychological harm that is inflicted as a result.
I am proud to be an atheist. I am not offended by it. But I think others may be offended when I tell them that I'm an atheist. That's their problem.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that it may incinerate me. (which makes about as much sense as your question)
Your question doesn't make sense.
As an atheist for 53 years, have I ever been offended by myself?
No, I shower daily.
Hi, new member! I'm puzzled by your question. Can you say more about what you meant to ask? I'm sure we'll be happy to respond. (WELCOME, by the way.)
Thank you, you said it so much more nicely than the others.
@LovinLarge (Frankly, I'm embarrassed by some of the replies.)
No.
I’m a bit confused by the question. What would I be offended by?
No, but I have been hilariously entertained by assorted cretinous God Mobsters as a result of my atheism.
We have that in common.
I've had religitards say unkind things about me because I am an Atheist but it didn't offend me because when it comes to religitards - there but for the grace of god go I.
I think you should reread the question. It doesn't seem to make sense.
I think Xians try a lot to not offend their invisible friend and his dad. They also insist on getting forgiven in only the ways they proscribe. If I offend someone I have to speak directly to that person and for them to know the apology is sincere. Also I would like to know exactly why I have offended. Most atheists and agnostics even if they are offended would accept reasonable explanations and agree to disagree about the rest.
I think what the OP is asking is: "As an atheist, do you find yourself bring offended by things similar to the way a Christian may be offended by someone saying 'Jesus Christ' in anger, or a Muslim being offended by a depiction of the prophet Muhammad."
If that is the question, no, it's next to impossible to offended me. Anyone willing to throw some dead baby jokes at me to try?
How do you like your babies? Fried? Roasted? Strangled? Drowned? Boiled? Beheaded? Eviscerated? Crushed? Steamed? Comminuted? Raw? Sliced? Deviled? Shredded? Dead? Alive?
@anglophone
I don't like babies. Could I get a hamburger please?
@anglophone How do you make a dead baby float?
@JeffMurray Pump it full of carbon dioxide.
@anglophone 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream 12oz. of liquefied baby.
I suppose if I had a tendency toward being offended, I could be offended all the time. I live in a rural heavily Christian Bible thumping area. I am not one of those people who feels I have some right to be protected from being offended. There are people here who make it personal if you oppose their opinions or beliefs, what they say to directly attack me offends me, but I seldom get worked up about it. I consider the source and choose my battles carefully.
