Pot Kettle. More re-tweets for Trump designed to appeal to his racist White base. Accusing people of Treason, Sedition and insurrection. Sounds like something Trumps buddy Putin would say. I do understand why BLM has said this, but I think it was a bad choice of words, playing into the hands of Trump. They need to be more politically savvy than this.
But I do think that if the US does not change in the face of peaceful Protests then this is only going to end up with Violence which would be a shame. Dr. King started peaceful protesting to look for change while the police set dogs and water cannon on them. It's now 60 years on and the Black community has shown remarkable restraint over the last 60 years considering that they are still having to fight for their rights.
It would be nice to see some of the white community acknowledge how peaceful protest has been the mainstay of the black civil rights movement for such a long time now.
@Fred_Snerd This is true. Corporate donations to politicians should be banned. Until this happens the people will never truly have their voices heard
@Fred_Snerd It did get attention. I just want to see change. And I don't think it will help. I could be wrong. I'm open to change my mind on this one. Let's see what happens
@dermot235 @Fred_Snerd someone posted this later this morning. It's good to see it is not the official movements definition of politically savvy, so maybe there is hope in that.

@dermot235 Same. It is so frustrating to have the predominantly peaceful protests buried beneath his bullshit. I agree with you that if a peaceful approach to change is not successful at this time, violence will be the natural progression. What saddens me most is that I think it truly Would be successful, peaceful change, real change, if met with cooperation and collaboration rather than resistance. Trump wants a Civil War. No one since Lincoln has had one. It would be a GREAT accomplishment in his eyes. And his racist loyalty base is more than ready to cheer him on in getting there. Sigh.
@Fred_Snerd Anonymous is just that, anonymous. Of course it matters. At least it matters to the BLM Global movement that actually has nationwide chapters and only allows those who commit to their principles, none of which are violent in nature.
@Fred_Snerd How very Nihilistic of you. I don't disagree that the only even remotely comprehensive solution is a new government, or with any of your statements about the battle for equality being a battle against the system., I'd just rather see us get there "Designated Survivor" style than "Handmaid's Tale" style.
@Fred_Snerd Yes, you are a stellar thought-provoking You Tube poster. I don't know that I always understand what you are trying to say, but I am thinking about it.
@Amzungu It's incredible looking on at his behaviour and seeing the Republican party standing by and doing nothing. They have become the party of hate. Saw the polls on how far Biden is ahead of Trump. But Trump still has 43% of the voters on his side and that's frightening. Does not bode well for the future of democracy in the US. If Trump loses and is investigated and ends up being charged with criminal acts, he should go to Prison. I have a feeling he will not because it will be feared that this will divide the country and create huge problems with violent protests from his hard core followers and he has millions of them waiting for an excuse to take up arms against the federal government. 4 years ago it would have seemed impossible to even think about the idea of a civil war in the US, but now it's not that outrageous an idea to think that that is where the US could be heading. I think a lot will depend on where the Republican Party goes with this. Will they reform or continue down the path they have taken over the last 10 years. Or it could be argued that this all started in 1912 when the liberal wing of the republican party split away, leaving it's most conservative members in charge.
Trump hasn't got a problem with treason. He is arguing that all the statues of treasonous Americans be left alone.
What most people do not seem to realise is that most of the Confederate monuments were erected in the sixties as a direct challenge to the civil rights movement. They are not there to celebrate history or culture. They are there to show the black community that white people are still in charge. And they do not celebrate history or culture, they celebrate treason and slavery.
So comparing these to statues of George Washington is not appropriate. Context is so important. White southerners need to understand this. And I think a lot of them do and they are happy to leave these statues there to send a message to the black community. That message is...we are still in charge.
Yup, it's nothing to do with history or heritage. Their function is purely for propaganda purposes.
