I always thought fascism was a right wing movement. Far left fascism seems self contradictory.

"Far left fascism" is indeed an oxymoron. It was uttered by the Chief Moron of the White House..

@anglophone Good point.

@Gatovicolo You might be amused by the way that the far right has just been hoodwinked: [bbc.com]

@anglophone a friend of mine sent that to me on fb. It was truly hilarious.

that's the point, only a dickweed like Trump would say something so utterly stupid

Trump is the definition of fascism. As far as the Dems being Far Left, I can only wish...Biden sure as hell wouldn't know far left if it bit him in the ass...

It also needs to be said that, in my opinion, the people who keep voting for corporate Dem candidates for prez are also just as much sheeple as those who support Trump. The reason is that they keep being lied to by corporate Dems who say that if elected they will help the economic fortunes of the working class and middle class, then after getting their votes they go back to promoting the neoliberal policies desired by their corporate donors. Rinse, repeat the cycle...

Trump's inability to see that he is himself part of the problem is just one manifestation of his highly dangerous ego.

So now there's only two type of Americans, the Fascist-Ass licking Trumpers and the Far Left Fascists.Nothing in between, all fascists?...(Just sarcasm against Trump)

The solution is a Democratic candidate who is more competent and plausible than DJT. Uncle Joe does NOT qualify.

He's using almost every Goebbels / Hitlerian propaganda technique in the book! Specifically, accusing the opposition of committing the very crime he's committing--over and over. Bottom line: He appears to be trying to start a civil war--which he hopes would prevent and/or preclude the election (that he will most certainly lose).

The POTUS is just projecting as he usually does to defend himself by attacking his opposition. Blaming those accusing you of something is classic projection, often used by abusers and bullies.

Abusers often portray themselves as victims; like the wife-beater who defends himself with "she made me do it."

Projecting blame on his victims has always been Trump's first response to anyone who has accused him of anything. As for the fascist label he's applied to "FAR LEFT ... FASCISM," it's merely a variation on the previous theme.

Absolutely no surprizes here. But Americans will get what they deserve if they assume that his intent is anything but self-serving.

As for those who say or believe that "there are good people on both sides," they will earn what they deserve. There are provably good people in every group, but you become who you stand by and support. After all, millions of Germans also supported making Adolf Hitler Dictator. LOL

Well put!

I think it's more useful to evaluate ideas one at a time than to judge them by their perceived categories, and to refrain from judging people as much as possible. Some of what Trump said was legitimate, perhaps even inspirational--or would be if not marred by false assertions and attacks on fellow Americans with whom he and his followers disagree to the point of hatred. He seems to be promoting a turn towards theocracy, and there are signs that his Court appointees may be doing the same with their recent decision about public funding for private religious schools.

The odd thing is that, up until now, there has been little evidence in his speech or behavior that he actually believes in god, just a need to pander to the religious right to preserve the core of his political base. I'm not sure he does--his speech shows the hallmarks of Stephen Miller's writing, and it may be Miller's believes that are being pushed in his speech, rather than his own, if he has any.

I'm also interested in a side issue regarding Mt Rushmore, the Black Hills, and the Oglala Lakota Tribe's rights by the 1868 treaty that they are trying to enforce through the courts. Should they regain the lands that were lost when the government took away some of the land granted by that treaty so that others could mine gold from that land. Should the, in addition to the land, also be compensated for the value of that gold, which they should have been able to mine themselves? I don't know, but the claims to those rights deserve consideration by the general public as well as the courts. I've taken a cursory look at the history involved, and it is compellingly in favor of the tribe.

Back to the speech. It's one thing to promote a turn to the right in American politics, and quite another to promote the persecution of the left, implied by some of his comments. The political dialogue should include all voices. His accusations about the left damage that dialogue. I'm not convinced that any of them are true.

I'm also disturbed by the insertion of presidential influence on the justice system. It's not up the the President to decide who gets prosecuted, for what, or what sentences should be imposed upon conviction. He also seemed to be implying that he should be able to decide whether they are guilty of not--sort of a reversal of the presidental pardon power. I really think that if he could, he would override not guilty verdicts in some cases, make him legislator, judge, jury, and executioner--the definition of a dictator.

This is one of the real dangers that his presidency represents beyond his term even if he is voted out. The trend towards putting that kind of power into the executive bracn is terrifying no matter who controls it. The balance of power between the braches of govenment must be restored and preserved if the future of democratic prcess is to be assured.

So clearly inciting division, fear mongering about indoctrination, lying that schools are teaching children to hate their country. The reality is they resent that their decades-long, white-washed, indoctrination of children is being re-examined and rejected for the biased view that it is.

Damn. The right are nazis. The left are now far left fascists. As a moderate I feel left out in the school yard name calling lol

He's an extreme right socialist, pandering to states like North Korea.

Trump's base are like trained seals. They'll applaud anything he says irrespective of content. So long as it comes from his mouth it gets their approval no matter how racist, corrupt, divisive, or just plain stupid it is. The cultish adoration they have for their marmalade messiah precludes any disapproval of his toxic messaging.

marmalade messiah... luv it😍😍😍

They cheered for him drinking water out of a cup.... drinking.water.

@BAMFRavenclaw Exactly. The bar is so low for him that something a toddler can accomplish gets a round of applause. He'd get a standing ovation if he spelled his name for them.

Gee whiz, I'm somebody now, a fascist lefty. 🙄
