Several valid points on both sides. Still no justification of the violence perpetrated by the BLM "protesters".

If our government is okay with police murdering black people then violence by protesters shouldn't be a big deal.

A false premise.

@PBuck0145 Not a false premise. It's my opinion, not fact. Our government (especially under Trump) is rife with racism and hypocrisy, and Trump has indeed condemned protesters while condoning white supremacists and remaining all but silent on police violence against blacks.

@Charles1971 Fair enough. In that case, the following is also valid:
"Since the government opposes police violence against black people, they should also vigorously prosecute protesters who incite or instigate violence."

@PBuck0145 @Charles1971
you are both creating false dichotomies, where there are none, it is simply that laws must be applied universally and equally without fear nor favour.

@LenHazell53 I can't argue with that, but the reality of that is very different. And that's the crux of the problem. How minorities are treated by police and our justice system is vastly different than who whites are treated.

And, police brutality is a serious issue regardless of anyone's race. It primarily happens against blacks but it shouldn't happen to anyone at all, ever, regardless of race, color, or ethnicity.

@PBuck0145 Yes, the government should and does prosecute protesters who incite violence. But reality shows us that many in our government don't care if police violence occurs against black people or anybody. When the government repeatedly ignores a serious problem sometimes the only recourse is protesting. And history has shown that violent protesting gets more attention and a quicker response by government than peaceful protesting.
