I thought this would be the place to post this, if not suggest another category and I will change it ?
So last year I made a decision; I will be a SMBC (single mother by choice). Yes I would like to find a man to share my life with but I have accepted that this is not likely. I have considered being a SMBC for many years but wanted to wait until I was in my 30s and I (and everything)was in a place where the timing was right. I am at that point and have been searching for a donor.
I felt that this website would be full of people that are open minded and supportive, without religion clouding their minds and forcing judgement ?
So this feeling like a safe place to discuss my situation and such, I am curious if there are any other SMBC or even single dad by choice (I have met a couple of those on the Known Donor Registry website) on here?
I have particular characteristic and traits in mind for my ideal donor. And have found one on the KDR but am continuing my search because I can find someone that is a better fit or just to have a back up(because the one I have so far lives across the country and it may be better to find a donor closer to me for a fresher specimen.)
For those that are curious: I have a contract that the donor and I sign that states he gives the specimen at his consent for my useage to become pregnant. He has no legal or parental rights or financial responsibility and will be anonymous as a donor etc etc
Some donors are interested in getting occasional updates of the child but remaining out of the child’s life. Some are willing to meet the child as an adult. Some want an “uncle” role in the child’s life. Me, personally (as mentioned in my statement about the contract) I want him to be a donor only, no contact etc.
This is not a decision I took lightly and I am excited to finally start my journey, I plan to start in May or June. So again I am curious to know if there are other Single Mother/parents By Choice on here
I am a single father, not by choice though. I respect and admire your decision. If you ever feel like talking more about it or just need someone to listen, you can always talk with me.
What characteristics do you look for in a donor? I need to see the contract as well if that is a possiblity.
@MeriMaat since I do not want to have any children of my own this always interests me.
