Things I do in the middle of the night.
We had a slow-moving thunderstorm for the last hour, so I am sitting at the laptop watching Brian Cox explaining physics to idiot talk show hosts. He is funny and indulgent of questions from the great unschooled masses, and will eventually turn on more people to the sciences than any other individual. You can find him all over youtube..
I enjoy his programmes, but find them too "slow moving". Many of his programmes would be far more compelling if they were reduced to half their length by cutting out repeated revelations and kindergarten level demonstrations.
I far prefer the programmes presented by professor Jim Al-Khalili of Surrey University.

Heβs also rather gorgeous I think! Did you know he was once in a pop/rock band called D-ream? Here he is on keyboards,
From '86 to '92 he was keyboard player for Dare.
Sorry but I think that there are a few million other women in line ahead of you.
The former professorβs music isnβt what I listen to but Iβm glad heβs doing well. With his former thing, the Big Bang dying a slow tortured death, many of its stars are going elsewhere. Even Neil DeG Tyson.
@Fernapple I didnβt say I was in line..just that he was gorgeous, which he is. Morten Harket and Magne Furuholmen are the ones Iβm at the head of the queue for!
Talk show hosts may or may not be idiots, the fact they aren't schooled in physics shouldn't make that the case. That' just your assessment
Sometimes they are also playing stupid to make the questions that they think, perhaps rightly, that the morons who make up their viewing public would ask.
@barjoe No that one is not PC either, since imbecile was once a medical diagnosis. Which was taken out when people started to get upset by it. Twit is good, as is fool, but idiot is maybe not really acceptable any longer, because of its original classical meaning, which is being brought back.
@Fernapple Don't say Dumb, you'll offend mutes. Feeble minded is out. Mental defective isn't PC. Don't even think of calling someone a spazz. Idiot is out, it used to be a term for Down Syndrome. Pinhead is totally unacceptable, it's a term for microcephaly. Maybe saying someone has limited intelligence. Oh well either way, you're gonna piss off somebody.
Barjoe: No, but to a person, they go for the cheap laugh, probably to make their audience feel better about themselves.
