A weird cult is moving its operations to Kauai. Just curious if anyone has ever heard of the "Love Has Won" cult, most recently in Crestone, Colorado, led by Amy Carlson?
The leaders have been here for a few weeks, and now the followers have arrived and are currently in quarantine, though social media shows various ways they are breaking quarantine. Law Enforcement is aware.
With enough evidence, I am hopeful that our police department will round them up and send them back home, for breaking quarantine. Another cult tried to migrate to neighbor island a couple of months ago, and sure enough they got caught breaking quarantine and were sent packing. Hoping we will do the same.
There are many stories online about this cult, their drug use and selling operations, suspicions of rape/murder scenarios, animal abuse and much more.
The cult leader who calls herself the Mother of Creation, claims she was the Queen of Lemuria thousands of years ago, her father at that time was Donald Trump. They promote QAnon and Trump2020 and sell spiritual products and "psychic psurgeries" performed by the drunk/drugged up cult leader. Very strange stuff.
I worry for Kauai. They will likely take advantage of kind hearted people and our limited food pantry supplies and other resources reserved for the residents of Kauai, not deadbeat newcomers.
There is a facebook page called "Love Has Won Exposed" dedicated to exposing the cult and its misdeeds. I just started following it today, as they seem to on top of this migration to Kauai.
Also here is an article written before they began moving to Kauai.
Just to wrap up this saga, for anyone who is interested, the cult has left the island, under police escort and should be back on the mainland by now.
Here is an article written after they left, by a blogger who has been following the story from before they got here: [gurumag.com]
It was sure the biggest news on our little island over the weekend.
Local concern about this cult spread through social media like wildfire this weekend after the "mom" declared in a live video that she was Pele, goddess of fire and volcano. That declaration didn't sit well with the Hawaiian cultural practitioners in the area surrounding the vacation home in Ha'ena where they were renting.
So, the local culture protectors came out in force, and encircled the home along the road and on the beach on Friday, chanting, holding signs in a peaceful, but loud and annoying way. (Not saying this was right, but it's a natural reaction to being provoked by the leader calling the Hawaiian people "whores" and bitches.)
The protestors also made 3 small fires on the beach, taunting the woman claiming to be Pele, goddess of fire. The fire department came and put it out. Police were watching the event 24/7, making sure everyone was within the law, social distancing and wearing masks.
That continued the next day, so then Saturday evening our mayor drove up to talk with the leaders of the cult at the house - and the protestors still gathered outside. He calmly explained to the cult members how they were insulting the Hawaiian culture by their claims and offered them a police escort from the house to the airport (an hour away) and they were said to be considering it.
Overnight, someone broke some windows in the house and their car. It's unclear if the windows were broken by the protestors or the cult members themselves.
This morning, Sunday, they did in fact leave their ocean front rental house and were escorted by police to the airport. 3 boarded a plane ("Mother god" and 2 of her "adams" as she calls them.) The rest went to the hotel where newly arrived members were still quarantining, and apparently they all packed up and are currently at the Kauai airport, destination after Honolulu airport unknown.
What is known about the first 3 that left is that they are on Maui and will be boarding a plane tonight for San Francisco -- so I imagine that these others will be on that same flight or a similar flight to San Francisco.
It's unknown who paid for all the flights, as our government has a program that finds cheap or free ways to get quarantine breakers back to the mainland, so I imagine that was the case with this group, even though it's unclear if they broke quarantine or not.
I'm sure more information will be all over our local news when we know for sure where they ended up, back in Colorado we presume, at the end of their travels.
Wow - what a crazy group - with their live streams of the "Mother God" screaming and swearing. The whole saga was quite entertaining for us watching the events live as they unfolded.
I didn't read the whole article because it was to long and I am to lazy to take the time, since I am working on something else. But the video with the cat should be enough to throw her in jail for animal abuse.
When questioned about the cat video the followers replied that the cat knows that "Mom" is the mother of all creation and so submitted. I'm sure there are excuses and justifications for any evil doings attributed to this cult. Sad.
Yep, lots of very long articles about this cult - I have more of an interest in it that the average member here - since they are geographically close.
The reason for my post was to see if anyone here has had any experience with them, but it appears not. All interesting replies though. Thanks for your thoughts.
YW, It is a sad state of affairs when you have to deal with people like this on a regular basis, you have my sympathy, ha ha Perhaps Animal Rights Watch or some organization like that might take a legal interest in it.
So long as they don't start having kook kar karavans, you are probably pretty safe!
I personally am likely pretty safe. It's just the community that I worry is at risk, our community services that they tend to exploit and taking advantage of the kindness of the people here, who might believe their stories, and pull at their heartstrings with tales that are untrue as to their circumstances. (Some telling the food pantry volunteers that they are single parents trying to feed several children, when thankfully there are no children in this group, the members have all abandoned their own children, sadly.)
Strangely, if the Catholics were to open a new church on your island there wouldn't be nearly the uproar. There should be, but in most cases we accept the cults that have been around for more than 100 years. Strange.
I’m sorry your paradise has been invaded—very troubling. My ex-father-in-law lost his parents at Jonestown. Cults suck.
This cult seems to be having some sort of "countdown to ascension" which is troubling. I'm not sure if the "mother" is ill and dying, and feels she will ascend at the moment of her death and so her followers will follow her in death or what. I've only been following the reports regarding this cult for 24 hours. But yes, I worry that it could have a similarity to Jonestown mass suicide at some point. I hope they go away - and soon!
@Julie808 I hope it doesn’t end like that, either. Brainwashing is a powerful tool. Too many lives sacrificed over BS.
The human mind is an amazing thing! It is capable of exploring outer space, splitting atoms, creating artificial human organs and so many wonderful things. But it is also prone to murder, con men and women, believing in the preposterous religions and cults created by these con artists.
I have said this on Facebook and maybe here as well. I think it is time to start evolution over again. We are slipping backwards almost as fast as we move forward as a species. An asteroid hit, or a super microbe could wipe us out at any minute. Global temperature change may do it over the long term, but it would be slow and torturous, and the evil ones will stand a better chance of survival. The Earth and the Universe are not stagnant, they go though constant changes over the eons, some much more rapid than others. I would prefer something dramatic and quick over slow and painful.
Watching Trump, his cult followers and his congressional flunky’s, tear away at our democratic system is definitely slow and painful. I hold out hope for November, but I fear the crazies have been left out of the bag and we may not like the results regardless of who wins the election (if it actually takes place). Trump wants to be Putin and other dictators, and by creating enough chaos, he can use their tactics (military and homeland security forces) to declare Marshal Law and start to take over state and local governments, to be replaced by his chosen delegates. It is really a small step, and has already been done on small scale in certain states. I am not sure the Democrats have the support of large portions of the rank and file military, nor the police forces of many cities and states.
I know I deviated from the original topic, but I think they are related. Keep us posted on what they do to this invasion of your island and how things work out.
Actually there's been a poll of the military and more support biden than tRump but a large number plan to vote for another party. It's still up for grabs, I'm for the Greens getting a lot of votes as that will give them money for the next election. I will vote for the Greens myself unless by some miracle biden starts supporting progressive policies.
A dark but very real point of view...
@Lorajay, at this point that matters less to me than what the democratic party is pulling with it's support of challengers to progressive democratic incumbants, their lack of support of the green new deal and medicare for all among other things. Their convention was a celebration of repuglican moderate policy.
Sometimes it seems we never left the 60's.
Except in this cult, everyone has a cell phone and computer, since they seem to run a 24 hour radio program with messages that are piped into the members phones and computers, wherever they are.
They do have a 60's color scheme and constant drug/alcohol haze though. Kauai was home to the Taylor Camp of the 60's/70's and is like a paradise to those who want to live off the land (or beg, borrow, steal) as a way of life.
@Julie808 I wonder if the computer and cell phone technology is a bad thing. Many more people can be reached and brain washed.
@JackPedigo Yep, they are reaching people thousands of miles away... But on the other hand, because of all their digital posting, they can easily be tracked by authorities and identified by folks online who have been scammed by them and know their whereabouts.
@Julie808 Talk abouot cat and mouse - computer style.
That is a really special kind of crazy!
Yes, and unfortunately they may find a lot of folks here who would fit right in. We have a lot of aging hippies who fried their brains on drugs in their earlier years and seem to be susceptible to some mind control. That's my sense anyway from some of the people I've met here who believe crazy things.
I know a few of those types from high school who are now QAnon followers. Ugh!
There are shit tons of private militia groups out there. I’m a huge fan of the show Survivor and one of my favorite players, Joe Anglim has posts on Instagram of him going through this training that involved knives at his throat. He posts about being ready for the enemy that will take our freedoms. It’s not cool.
These folks don't seem to be militia - just drug and mind control - and scamming followers out of money. They also seem to have a further darker side on top of that.
From what I could find on the internet, they sound like real wingbats!
I've only been made aware and curious about it in the last 24 hours and was surprised how much information is available online. There is a website that appears to be following their activity for the parents/family members who are worried about their loved ones wrapped up in this cult. Interesting to be able to follow their moves, since they post a lot of live streams, showing where they are.
Trump will probably claim they are "good people".
We are a pretty blue island, but there is one Trump sign in town, that is like 20 feet high and has a fence around it because of the fear of vandalism to it. I wouldn't be surprised if this group doesn't gather round under it or lay gifts beside it or something, haha!
Kauai is a beautiful island, I sure hope these nut jobs are told to leave!
Our law enforcement is very strict regarding quarantine breakers, since we are so protective of our health, with currently zero active cases confirmed. I'm hopeful the whole group will be rounded up and sent packing, but who knows.
Kauai attracts a lot of New Age Crazies, and is touted as one of those spiritual spots with a portal to somewhere. We've got a lot of drug damaged aging hippie types who are very gullible and ripe to fall into this cult.
The one thing that might keep our Kauai folks from falling into it is the Trump support. We are a very blue island, with very little support for Trump.
Keep an eye open on this as it looks like rubbish to me. It may even be Trump approved.
Wouldn't be surprised if the "Mom" of this cult is a spiritual advisor to Trump, haha! Maybe he'll start touting her "psychic psurgeries" as a covid-19 cure.
