It’s wild to think how many people still believe in the Noah’s Ark story, including MANY Republicans working for Trump. At age 15, I was an unbeliever of ALL religion. One day on my school bus when I was 15, a classmate and I somehow got into a religious discussion where Noah’s Ark was brought up. I asked him “How can you believe in that?” His exact words were “You just have to believe.”
I can’t do that. My brain won’t let me. I was given a kids bible to read when I was 8 years old from my grandmother. I had questions and didn’t logically understand the Adam and Eve story. I re-read it about 10 times and couldn’t grasp it. I spent a lot of time with her growing up, but wasn’t raised by her.
My mom is fairly religious, but she never talked about the Bible or forced it on me. In fact, growing up with my mom it was never talked about at all. She had quite a few Jesus stuff hanging up in the house, but we didn’t talk about it.
When I reached high school, I started thinking about religion really deeply, on my own. I live in a town with around 40 churches and a huge Jehovah Witness congregation. Religion is everywhere here. Since I was 15 and able to think on my OWN, I wanted to really dissect it. I read the first 20 pages of the Bible and already had over 30 “questions.” Just like I had questions when reading the Adam and Eve story at age 8. Aside from Adam and Eve, The Noah’s Ark story is what REALLY did it for me. After reading that, I couldn’t read anymore. I only got through the first 20 pages.
My YouTube account randomly recommends me videos and AronRa’s videos sometimes comes up, which Noah’s Ark is one of them. He’s made 8 videos explaining why Noah’s Ark isn’t real...as he knows many still believe in it.
I know that religion helps some people, but it also scares the crap outta me that some people rule out all science, logic, and have cognitive dissonance. AronRa brought up Trump and how so many Republican politicians believe in that story... Including Betsy DeVos, who is the secretary of education since 2017!
