Anyone else thinking of leaving the United States if Trump is re-elected, where are you going, can you take one more?
No not leave stay and fight the power so to speak Not talking violence but resist the hate at every turn
After Trump’s win in 2015, several of my Trump loving cousins asked when and where I was moving. I told them then, and I would repeat it now (we don’t talk very often! ) I will stay and be part of the resistance to bring democracy back. Because under a second Trump term, we will be a democracy in the same sense that Russia and China are democracies. Only a strong and vocal resistance, with help from a strong military will get it back.
I don't have the money to leave the U.S.
Best I could do is drive my car into the Atlantic and see how far it would float.
Thinking Belize...they speak English. I don't do cold, snow or humidity anymore
Never been to Belize...will look into it.
@Namaste That had been suggested to me ..during bush jr’s second term.. Would very likely have bought a place, had I had the cash from the sale of mine…
Started with suggestions of Costa Rica, too many restrictions on - and an obvious profiting from ‘US expats.’ A former Peace Corps fellow turned me on to Belize, he loved it so much he spent decades there, after marrying a native.
Medical care in Mexico, stay away from the coastal towns. But watch out for roving drug gangs taking US expat hostages.. The place I was more than interested in was near an Amish compound, and I found that comforting, as we’d have had some things in common.
Actually though, glad I stayed in the US. As shitty as the butthole of Virginia (or darn close) can be, I like it, have met some wonderful like-minded people, and will make my stand ..if necessary.
If the nation were foolish enough to allow that POS another term, it certainly would not have allowed the House of Representatives to fall as well.. I’d stay and fight, as I always have.
How could I possibly fight at my age, and would I want to. I thought about staying in a territory rather than on the mainland and PR is closest.
@Namaste You can fight for the school board, the town council, a county supervisor/ commissioner… You can remain a tiny flame of reason. They may not be fights you win, but a way of making life count..
To me, the older I get - the more expendable I become. Weird, too, is the respect I appear to receive, even from ..detractors. Running lets them win. They don’t run when we win, they arm & organize. Maybe it’s time we match them..
Met a number of timid, fearful ‘democratic women’ recently, some trembling. Actually, they gave me strength - if they’re willing to make a stand, so am I ~
Probably won't be able to of I wanted that. Travel restrictions to most of Europe and Canada. I would stay. Where would I go?
