Reminds me of something my veterinarian told me...makers of cheap dog food will make it saltier, because dogs like it. Of course, it's not good for them but.....who cares? We're not having to eat it.

This doesn't necessarily mean their bread is unhealthy, it enables the Irish Government to tax Subway rolls a VAT as desserts or cake. Money grab.

The government(s) don't tax the foods that meet their healthy/staple regs, Subway didn't qualify.

@FearlessFly So "bread" is exempt from VAT and they claim the high sugar content makes it a baked good that's not bread. They'll change their recipe and won't have to pay the VAT.

@barjoe A bread recipe has only flour, yeast, water, a little salt. Everything else is an adulterant.

Do you think, it would be changed world-wide, or just in Ireland ?

@FearlessFly Normally I'd say only Ireland but because this story went viral they may go worldwide for public relation I for their "new and improved" hoagie rolls.
